1 John 1:1-4 (HCSB)

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have observed and touch with our hands, concerning the Word of Life—[2] that life was revealed, and we have seen it and we testify and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us—[3] What we have seen and heard we also declare to you, so that you may have fellowship along with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. [4] We are writing this things so that our joy may be complete.

First off, let’s look at verses 1 and 2…these verses are discussing the Word of God. (The Bible) It is through these verses that we see how we should share the Gospel with others. Do you see how “declare” appears many times throughout the passage? WE should be the ones to “declare” the message to others. Verses 1 and 2 also discuss how reliable the Bible is. Many of the men who penned down these words of God were eyewitnesses to the things they were inspired to write about. (On a side note, when I say “inspired” I don’t mean they thought of it themselves, but they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. See 2 Timothy 3:16!)

Now, for a deeper inspection of verses 3 and 4. In verse 3, we see another instance of the word “declare”. This is showing the importance of sharing the Gospel with others! We need to more faithful in sharing, however, in order to do that we must be faithful in our own walk. “Our fellowship” with Jesus should be an everyday time in the Word.

I pray that my blog would help you, but don’t just take my own word for it…study for yourself!
