2 Peter 1:2 May grace (God’s favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.  (AMP)

I take this verse to mean that as we grow in our faith, we have more of a desire to be like Him. Because of that, we hand our life over to the Spirit without a fight. The Spirit works in us to give us God’s grace and peace.
