Matthew 3 2-29-16 — February 29, 2016

Matthew 3 2-29-16

Matthew 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.

During Jesus’ baptism, the verses show how much He loves His Son! This expression of love makes me even more thankful for God sending His Son to die for us! Let’s be thankful today!

Matthew 3 2-28-16 — February 28, 2016

Matthew 3 2-28-16

Matthew 3:1-2 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, [2] and saying, β€œRepent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

John the Baptist paved the way for Jesus’ ministry. He never accepted any glory for himself, but he always pointed people to God and all He was going to do.

Let’s worship today! πŸ™Œβ›ͺοΈπŸ’’

Matthew 2 2-27-16 — February 27, 2016

Matthew 2 2-27-16

Matthew 2:22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.

Mary and Joseph once again followed the orders of God. They had their own plan, but they did not follow it. Give up your own plans today! πŸ™

Matthew 2 2-25-16 — February 25, 2016

Matthew 2 2-25-16

Matthew 2:5-6 So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: [6] ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.'”

I love verses that show prophesies that are fulfilled. I don’t need to have confirmation in the Bible….but it certainly helps to see how the story flows together. Let’s live in awe of God’s story today!

Matthew 1 2-24-16 — February 24, 2016

Matthew 1 2-24-16

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

We know the story, but do we ever marvel at how amazing the story of Jesus is? Jesus came down to be born of a virgin, a perfect child. I wonder what Mary and Joseph thought about raising a perfect child….? 😏

Matthew 1 2-23-16 — February 23, 2016

Matthew 1 2-23-16

Matthew 1:6 and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.

I had never noticed this verse before, but look at what it says. “David the king begot Solomon by her who had been Uriah’s wife.” What a story of redemption!! Even though David made a grave mistake, he was still and ancestor of Jesus! Let’s be thankful for God’s forgiveness and mercy today!

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Colossians 4 2-22-16 — February 22, 2016

Colossians 4 2-22-16

Colossians 4:16 Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.

Paul wanted these two churches to read the epistles that were sent to one another. We as the body of Christ need to work together, no matter the circumstances. Pray for unity in the body today! πŸ™

Colossians 4 2-21-16 — February 21, 2016

Colossians 4 2-21-16

Colossians 4:3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,

Simple verse, big meaning and purpose. Are we spending time in prayer for other believers? Or are we only focused on ourselves? It’s okay to pray for your own needs, but we can’t become self-centered! Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you a prayerful spirit! πŸ™

Colossians 3 2-20-16 — February 20, 2016

Colossians 3 2-20-16

Colossians 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

One of my favorite verses….when we required to do something, we should work like it is for our Father in Heaven! Would you give Him sloppy work and a bad attitude? I don’t think so. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to give us a heart to work for the Lord!

Colossians 3 2-19-16 — February 19, 2016

Colossians 3 2-19-16

Colossians 3:5, 8 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

[8] But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Continuing with the theme from yesterday…..

Jesus has blessed us with the gift of forgiveness. BUT, if we are truly His son/daughter, we will not want to live in sin. We will rely on His Spirit to transform and guide us. Pray for the Spirt’s guidance today! πŸ™
