Psalm 2:2-3 The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the LORD and against his anointed one. “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.”
Psalm 2 can apply to the current political situation in the United States, and it can apply to our own lives! Polictians, as well as ourselves, may not be sitting around saying, “Let’s disobey God’s commands today,” but it is certainly what we are doing! We as a nation, are calling the statutes of God chains that are holding us back, and we are trying to break free. However, we have failed to realize that in Christ we are free! Let us who are saved remember that we have hope in Jesus, we know who wins in the end!
And don’t worry God is not thrown off by the people’s disobedience….
Psalm 2:4-6 But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. Then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them with his fierce fury. For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king [David, or Jesus] on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.”
The king mentioned in verse 6 can refer to David or Jesus. Applying the chapter to current times….it means Jesus!
