Psalm 55  9-29-16 — September 29, 2016

Psalm 55  9-29-16

Psalm 55:22  Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

‭‭Found a really good commentary on Psalm 55: (Matthew Henry Commentary)

“It is the conjecture of many expositors that David penned this psalm upon occasion of Absalom’s rebellion, and that the particular enemy he here speaks of, that dealt treacherously with him, was Ahithophel; and some will therefore make David’s troubles here typical of Christ’s sufferings, and Ahithophel’s treachery a figure of Judas’s, because they both hanged themselves. But there is nothing in it particularly applied to Christ in the New Testament. David was in great distress when he penned this psalm. I. He prays that God would manifest his favour to him, and pleads his own sorrow and fear (v. 1-8). II. He prays that God would manifest his displeasure against his enemies, and pleads their great wickedness and treachery (v. 9-15and again v. 20, v. 21). III. He assures himself that God would, in due time, appear for him against his enemies, comforts himself with the hopes of it, and encourages others to trust in God (v. 16-19and again v. 22, v. 23). In singing this psalm we may, if there be occasion, apply it to our own troubles; if not, we may sympathize with those to whose case it comes nearer, foreseeing that there will be, at last, indignation and wrath to the persecutors, salvation and joy to the persecuted.”

Psalm 54  9-26-16 — September 26, 2016

Psalm 54  9-26-16

Psalm 54:2, 4-5  [2] Listen to my prayer, O God. Pay attention to my plea.

[4] But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! [5] May the evil plans of my enemies be turned against them. Do as you promised and put an end to them.
When people told Saul where David was, what did He do? He trusted in God. David knew that God had called Him to be King, and David trusted Him to do just that…make Him King! I know that trust is hard, especially when life doesn’t go as we planned. But…trust Him…He gave His life for YOU! Give Him your trust.

Psalm 54:6  I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good.

Psalm 53  9-26-16 —

Psalm 53  9-26-16

Psalm 53:3  But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one!

This sure sounds familiar! The world has always had those who choose to live in a way that shows they don’t believe God exists. In verse 1, it says the fools essentially has no time for a God in his/her life. I am so thankful that God sent Christ and the Holy Spirit. Without Christ, we would all be eternal fools. Without the Holy Spirit, we would all live like fools!

Psalm 52  9-26-16 —

Psalm 52  9-26-16

Psalm 52:4  You love to destroy others with your words, you liar!

This Psalm in on betrayal. Someone had betrayed David. We can learn a lesson from this. We are not to stir up anger and betray people we know. Instead, we are to live according to God’s will for our lives!

Follow verse 9: ‭‭I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people.

Psalm 51  9-26-16 —

Psalm 51  9-26-16

Psalm 51:7-9  Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. [8] Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. [9] Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt.

I love this Psalm. Such an expression of asking God for forgiveness. I am so thankful that God forgives us; we wouldn’t be anything without His forgiveness. I want to share a song by Life.Church Worship. This includes Worship Pastors and Worship Leaders from a few Life.Church Campuses.

Life.Church Worship – Psalm 51

Psalm 50 9-22-16 — September 22, 2016

Psalm 50 9-22-16

Psalm 50:23  But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.

This Psalm of Asaph is one that truly should convict many of us, including myself. It says in verses 16-20:  But God says to the wicked: “Why bother reciting my decrees and pretending to obey my covenant? [17] For you refuse my discipline and treat my words like trash. [18] When you see thieves, you approve of them, and you spend your time with adulterers. [19] Your mouth is filled with wickedness, and your tongue is full of lies. [20] You sit around and slander your brother—your own mother’s son.

Are we truly living in a way that says we are “all in” for Christ? Are we truly appreciative of the gift of Salvation we have been given? Or do we feel entitled, because we think we are better than others. NEWS FLASH: Your sin is not any better than a murderer’s sin; sin is sin. Period! We have all fallen short, and we can all be saved by the blood of Jesus. I encourage you to live in a way that pleases God today; live thankful for the saving blood. Live thankful for His grace, patience, mercy, love….oh, the list could go on and on.

Psalm 49 9-21-16 —

Psalm 49 9-21-16

Psalm 49:15  But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself.

‭‭I praise Him everyday for saving me from the miry clay. He pulled me up out of my sin, and gave me new life! I am so thankful for the gift of salvation. Praise God for His salvation today! Hallelujah!

Psalm 47  9-19-16 — September 19, 2016

Psalm 47  9-19-16

Psalm 47:1-2  Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. [2] For the LORD Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.

‭‭In this Psalm, the Sons of Korah encouraged us to Worship our God! Worship Him through shouting and clapping and singing and instruments because He is awesome! Our God is victorious and He reigns!

Psalm 47:8  God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.

I especially love verses 6 and 7: Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.

Lift up the name of Jesus today!

Psalm 45  9-17-16 — September 17, 2016

Psalm 45  9-17-16

Psalm 45:6  Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;

This Psalm is beautiful! This Psalm has subtle topics of the Messiah! JESUS! One day, Jesus will return! I can’t wait! But until then, we need to reach out to others! Don’t sit around and wait; live with anticipation and show the gospel to the world!

Psalm 45:17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever.

Psalm 43  9-15-16 — September 15, 2016

Psalm 43  9-15-16

Psalm 43:1  Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!

‭‭David was once again in rough spot; he prayed to God for a defense against “ungodly” people. (Those who were mistreating him.) David turned to God at his low point. Do we do the same? Or do we turn to worldly things for peace that it will never have to give to us? Today, instead of turning to the world, turn to God. He will give you rest, comfort, and a peace beyond all understanding.

Psalm 43:5  Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.

Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I love Jesus and playing dress up.
